Drawing with Stefan Meier

This month โ€˜the heart projectโ€ hosts live drawing sessions with Stefan Meier and special guest, Studio Hash! Initially done as a live stream over Twitch, this ephemeral content is captured in the preview clip linked above. We dive into notions of traditional art and NFTs, alternative materials, time travel, & friendship as we draw on up-cycled pizza boxes, a preferred medium of mine. :)

I typically source pizza boxes as a found material in my work as they tend to represent many charged ideas. Not only are they sources from my immediate landscape and companies involved in the act of โ€œmakingโ€ but they also convey concepts around the material itself, such as supply chain & sustainability. The pizza box is hugely tied to my childhood as it is for many, a comfort food of choice that at points boarders on addiction. Partly nostalgic, partly overly-indulgent this art material is ripe with meaning and innuendo.

You can see the boxes produced on this broadcast below. To the left one that I did featuring my โ€œheartโ€ nft character jump-roping away from a California Grizzly towards a multicolored porsche (all attributes influenced by suggestions from a live virtual audience.) To the right we have a box by Stefan Meier depicting a dope dino silhouette as it looms over the world and info specs from Dominoโ€™s. This exercise in creative intuition and community collaboration challenges previously isolate ideas of an artist and offers insight into the role art can play as social conduit.
