Art collection: Heart #8725

Heart #8725 is an NFT published in 2021 by the Heart Project on the Open Sea marketplace. Though each of the initial 10,000 heart artworks were generated using AI, the hundreds of uniquely drawn attributes on every character were sketched by Los Angeles based artist, Stephan Mieres.

The acquisition of this artwork marks Studio Hash’s first NFT purchase! We’re excited to be exploring the larger NFT & Heart Project Community via discord. With a roadmap in place outlining creative projects from music videos to album features and meta verse parties, this community explores DAO financial models to establish equitable infrastructures for a growing collective of creators.

This work confronts traditional notions of art as functionless objects and questions it’s material and historical constructs. Can art exist to foster community and challenge economic precedents? Or is it an object solely focused on exuding aesthetic presence? Perhaps the dematerialized image, though inherently disruptive, is a welcomed alternative to institutionalized assumptions around art.

Either way, we feel that this artwork offers a radical view into the potential of WEB 3.0, and how artists may redefine their relationship to financial institutions in the not so distant future.
