Keep Your Eye on These 5 Design and Color Trends for 2022

The past few years have had their fair share of ups and downs, but the design world is committed to entering 2022 with a positive outlook. According to experts, 2022 color trends are likely to be focused on more vibrant colors with themes of irreverence and fun. This is due to the fact that people are ready to break through the stress and struggles from the past few years and bring something unique and amazing into their lives, even if that still means being stuck at home. With art, color, and interior design elements, people are ready to take control of their lives in whatever ways they can.

Bright Color Palettes With Muted Patterns

In 2022, the color of the year is Very Peri which was announced by Pantone in December 2021. The color is a beautiful purplish-blue that is now showing up in a variety of design spaces. This color, combined with expert design analysis, suggests that the color trends 2022 will offer are likely to be focused on bright color palettes. It is likely that these color palettes will be offset by muted tones, possibly with overlaid patterns.

Neon Art

After transitioning to using our homes as not only a place of refuge but also a place to work and enjoy entertainment, itโ€™s no surprise that people crave a brighter, more engaging look. In the interior design and art spaces, people are becoming more interested in bringing in elements of commercial and hospitality spaces into their own locations. This includes neon colors in the artwork displayed in their homes or even neon signs used to accent the art.

Curves

Curved furniture is considered feminine and forgiving which has a comforting element that has proven popular throughout the past few years. Design experts expect to see these curved elements continue in 2022 with curvaceous features in all areas of art and design.

When asked about this trend, designer Alex Liepman stated โ€œCurvalicious furniture was a big design trend in 2021 and it's set to stay so you can bring those same softer edges into the wall art you display for a clean, complementary finish.โ€

Uplifting Art

Following the theme of coming back from the struggles of 2020 and 2021, people are looking to find joy through art and design in 2022. There has been an increase in pieces that focus on inspirational and uplifting sayings with large format typographies. Experts believe that people want to express their emotions through uplifting pieces. Common themes right now include works depicting happy people, nostalgic desserts, animals, and other inspiring subjects.

Art Styles

An analysis of the current art market shows that the most popular art trends in 2022 are expected to be abstract (54%), followed by contemporary (48%), and modern (42%) while 48% of designers indicate they anticipate an increase in the use of sculpture.

With these design and color trends, 2022 is sure to offer unique and interesting developments in the art world.
